BREEZE12 yr old pinto mare who was being lead on to the slaughter truck when she was seen by a friend of ours. After a few phone calls it was arranged that Breeze would be coming to CVRS as a foster through another rescue. Breeze was foundered badly and really needed her feet properly tended to. We had Breeze vet checked as soon as she arrived and also had her palpated. To our surprise she was indeed in foal and about 4-5 months along. It was a long hard battle with her founder as she had rotation in all 4 feet. We also found 4-5 abscesses per foot. Breeze spent alot of time in her deeply bedded stall and had her feet wrapped more times than I can count. She was given a 50/50 chance to get through her pregnancy by two vets and our farrier.
On January 1, 2007 Breeze gave birth to a handsome pinto stud colt, Cozee Valee's Mister Blister aka Teeko. Breeze has since had a few bad episodes with her founder but we are doing everything in our power to keep her comfortable and hopefully at some point sound. Breeze now belongs to CVRS as the rescue she was fostered through was unprofessional with their fostering program. That is ok, we love Breeze, she is getting everything she needs and will be with us forever :)

HOWEE - This big guy is a pure sweetheart that stands about 17 hands tall. He is a Standardbred with a very bad left front ankle. Howee was in the count headed to slaughter when I saw him at a local auction. He was on layover while the dealer who had him there was also the auctioneer and once this auction was done, he would then be transporting Howee to New Holland to take his final ride to the slaughter house. The rescue Howee was fostered through was unprofessional with their fostering program so he now belongs to CVRS. We are ok with that because Howee is worth everything we put into him. Although Howee can not be ridden, he is a pure joy to have around and we love him to pieces. Howee is very lucky to have his sponsor, Linda M who loves him very much :)
THANK YOU MISS LINDA M !!

CHARLEE - Sir Charles is a 27 yr old pony gelding that was on a Craiglist ad for free that was sent to me. Something just kept eating away at me so I inquired. From the conversation and emails we had with this woman, Charlee was in good shape but just no longer needed as her son was too big to ride him. She told us that he was having trouble putting on weight. Well when Stephany (Celtic Rein Rescue) and her family arrived with Charlee, she warned me about his condition. By simply looking at the way the blanket was hanging on him, I knew it was not good. When we took him into the barn and removed his blanket (picture on the left above) I had tears. I could not believe this was the same pony that I had been sent pictures of from 6 months prior!! Charlee was weak and actully went down in his stall. The poor guy was nothing but bones and obviously had no energy at all. It took many different tries but we finally had a feed mix that Charlee loved. He is on Blue Seal Vintage Senior and Beet Pulp. He is a fussy ole coot but this mix sure seems to make him happy! He is also on Pergolide to treat his Cushings.
I spoke with a previous owner of Charlee and she told me that he had broken or fractured his right shoulder before she had gotten him. He was on 6 months of stall rest in a cast or sling. I am not sure of all the details but that is the jist of it. It is obvious that he is compensating for that shoulder and therefore very over at the knee on that right leg. From the moment he walked off the trailer I asked Stephany if anything was mentioned about his right knee but she said not at all. He had such a thick coat from not getting his pergolide that we thought maybe it was just that. Once he started to recover and feeling better I noticed right away that he was lame on that right leg. It was very hard to check it with all the hair so I body clipped him. I could then see right away that it wasn't just the thick coat, his knee was a bit swollen but not alot of heat. Our farrier has done his feet and the angles were all off so we are slowly correcting them. He also checked his knee as he noticed the swelling and agreed he was over at the knee.
When out vet arrives to give vaccines we will be drawing blood to check his levels to make sure his pergolide is working properly. Of course his teeth will be checked and knee will also be looked at but for now he gets some bute for his discomfort.
Charlee is VERY lucky to have so many wonderful people that love him. THANK YOU to  Miss Linda J - Dorothy - Linda M - Marcia D - Diane W - Jamie J - Faye W. There are many more but these ladies are his main supporters and Charlee is so grateful to have each of you love him so much!
We would also like to say thank you to Beth and Mary M from
NEER. They sent Charlee some Pergolide that they could no longer use. We are very grateful and appreciate their thoughtfulness :)

LADEE -
is a BLM Mustang mare who is in her mid 20's. She was surrendered to us a few years ago when her owner was having health issues and could no longer care for her. Constantly lame and worm infested this mare needed some vetting and farrier work asap! It wasn't until a few months ago that her lameness issues finally came to a head when old punctures made their way through her feet. When our farrier was here the frog in her right foot literally fell out! It was all raw where the frog was to be and it looked gross! She ended up losing the frog in the left foot as well. Our vet was here to do x-rays and give a course of action to get her feeling better. We did a lot of soaking and wrapping for at least a month. Once she was healed enough to go out, she seemed to walk alot better. Chances are her frogs will not grow back but as long as she is comfortable she will continue to hang out and graze until she let's us know when it is her time. Right now she is enjoying life and that is what this is all about :)

PONE - is a grade pinto gelding from North Dakota who is approx 7. This poor guy was the not so lucky recipient of some serious abuse. We found this out many months after we adopted him from a PA rescue. Although he sure was not a pony for our very young son as we were told but after knowing about his past and watching him shake in fear when men get near him, I knew he was a keeper and is now a member of our sanctuary.
Pone has come a long way but he is still not trusting enough to be ridden. He and I are buddies but boys/men he is not thrilled about at all. He is the bully of the pasture and keeps the other horses in line.

TEEKO - is a 1 1/2 year old grade pinto gelding and the son of Breeze. He was named Cozee Valee's Mister Blister but somehow Teeko became his barn name. Since Breeze was the first bred mare we have had I had alot to learn and was very excited to have a foal being born here. Teeko was born on Jan 1, 2007 and my Mother and I were lucky enough to see the whole birth take place. It was an experience I feel everyone should be blessed to witness. Teeko was a big boy who was all legs! Because he was maturing so fast he was gelded at 5 mths and has become the sweetest gelding and a pure joy to work around. Teeko is very blessed to have a special lady named Diane W that loves him and sponsors him. THANK YOU DIANE!!
If all goes well Teeko will be started under saddle and eventually headed to his new home with his admirer, Diane ;)

TILEE - is a 6 yr old grade POA mare. This mare was signed over to CVRS do to her owner not having enough experience or time for a young horse.Tilee has been here since she was a weanling but due to me being pregnant in 03 and 05 I did not have the time to properly start her under saddle. She is green broke and is a very quick learner. This mare is NOT for a child or an inexperienced person. She has a bad attitude while she is in her stall and the pasture. She gets along well with the other horses but seems to have issues with smaller people/animals. She feels the need to pin her ears and bite them. She is just fine for grooming - tacking - farrier and vet. If you are interested in Tilee please contact us. Remember we will be very particular as to where she goes given her attitude.

BOOG - 28yr old QH gelding. Boog is my first horse and has been a part of Cozee Valee for almost 26 yrs. His bad attitude all those years ago almost sent him on a trip where he was bound to end up in a bad situation. Somehow my Mother managed to buy him for me while trying to raise 3 kids as a single Mom. Obviously my interest in horses never went away. Now our son, Bryan will get the opportunity to learn to ride on Boog too. THANK YOU MOM - WE LOVE YOU!

SOLO- is a 19 yr old grade QH gelding. When Solo was 7mths old he and his Mother were getting ready to be loaded and taken to a local dealer. I received a call asking if I wanted that cute little colt I saw a few months prior and I was told of the situation. I did everything I could to gather the funds to make sure he never stepped foot on the dealer's property. I was not able to get his mother and could only pray she found a good home as she was a great mare. I started Solo myself and did a small amount of showing with him but realized that wasn't any longer something I wanted to do so he became a trail horse. He is now the goofball around here and enjoys hanging out with Boog and Howee :)

RASCAL-is a 5yr old registered mini gelding who was given to our son, Bryan by a good friend of ours. Rascal can be a handful and has a nasty streak in the pasture at times but is full of personality. He does do quite well as far as Bryan grooming and riding him. At some point we hope to take him out on some trail rides before Bry is too big to ride him.
